Amyris

Amyris is a plant little known in the West, native to Haiti and China. Its name comes from a Greek word meaning “strongly fragrant”. Indeed, this small shrub delivers a very perfumed resin. However, it takes about 30 years for the plant to produce enough resin to extract an essential oil. This rare essence diffuses a woody and rich scent. Its smell is close to that of sandalwood and that is why it is also called Haitian sandalwood. It also reveals light and exotic nuances that make it very easy to associate with many ingredients. Perfumers usually combine it with woody notes, but it also blends harmoniously in amber or chypre fragrances.
