Bay

In perfumery, especially for men, noses use the bay note a lot. But what is it exactly? This olfactory material comes from the pimenta racemosa, also called Indian wood. This shrub grows in several regions of the Caribbean. The distillation of the leaves of the tree allows to obtain an essential oil with thousand virtues for the skin, the hair and the health! Moreover, the West Indians make a natural aftershave, the “bay rum”, by mixing leaves of the pimenta racemosa with rum and water. In perfumery, the bay note diffuses an aromatic and fresh perfume, while being powerful and spicy. Perfumers usually include it in men’s fragrances, but the bay note is also beginning to make its way into more feminine juices.
