Caraway is also known as meadow cumin. It is a plant cultivated in Europe, India and North Africa for its leaves and seeds. It dates back to ancient times, when its leaves were already used to flavor dishes. But it is the seeds, with their strong aromatic power, that are most interesting perfumers. The distillation of the dried and crushed seeds produces an essence with an aniseed, mentholated and spicy scent reminiscent of cumin. This ingredient must be dosed with great care, because too high dose can make it unpleasant. Caraway adds intensity and enhances fresh and citrusy fragrances perfectly.
