Champaca

Champaca is a flower from the Magnolia Champaca, an Indian cousin of the magnolia. It is considered sacred in India and is mentioned in many legends. It is the flower emblem of Kana, the Hindu god of eroticism. Its yellow-orange petals diffuse a suave perfume with very powerful scents. Still little used in perfumery, the essential oil of champaca is obtained thanks to the distillation of petals. Its scent is however very interesting, with nuances of white flowers, honey and orange. It remains a rare material in perfumes because of its relatively high cost.
