Datura

Datura is an herbaceous plant native to South America, which is widely found in Mexico today. Datura can be recognized by its long white and purple flowers that form trumpets. This plant is especially known to be very toxic. Moreover, the Aztecs considered it as a magic plant and used it formerly during shamanic rituals for its hallucinogenic properties. Its seeds are nevertheless interesting for their therapeutic virtues and are as such present in pharmacology. Despite its bad reputation, the flower is a perfumed material of choice. Its essence is bewitching, narcotic. The notes are both fresh and powerful, so much so that datura can quickly become heady if it is not dosed with balance. Its perfume evokes white flowers with a fruity side.
