Davana

Davana is an aromatic plant native to southern India. Also called “marathi”, it belongs to the same family as mugwort, tarragon or wormwood. It is an integral part of many Indian traditions. Its fragrant yellow flowers are assembled in the form of a garland to offer to the God Shiva.

In the perfumery industry, these same flowers are steam distilled to produce an essential oil. This natural raw material distills a velvety note with aromatic and fruity nuances at the same time. The davana also reveals aromatic and woody accents, with a liquorish side. All these facets give it a racy perfume, which is often used in men’s fragrances.
