The lily is an herbaceous flower that gives off a very powerful scent. It is capable of filling an entire room thanks to its imposing pistil. Its flowers can take on many shades from yellow to red or white, sometimes with mauve-colored patterns. There are many varieties of lilies. The best known are the white lily, the lilium grandiflorum with its powerful scent and the royal lily. It is not possible to extract the fragrance from the flower because it is a mute flower. In order to reproduce its sweet white flower scent with spicy and sunny notes, perfumers use synthetic chemistry. To do so, they mix white flower essences such as orange blossom or jasmine with synthetic molecules such as eugenol for its spicy aspect or indole, present in many white flowers.
