Mimosa is a small shrub cultivated for its very fragrant yellow flowers in the shape of small balls. If it is cultivated today in Egypt, Morocco and France, especially on the French Riviera for its favorable climate, the mimosa is native to Australia. In perfumery, mimosa absolute is used, obtained by extracting its small yellow pompoms with volatile solvents. It has a warm, honeyed scent with floral and straw accents. The olfactory sensation of the plant is powdery and floaty. Depending on the associations, it can give off a green or solar scent, which is quite rich. It is often associated with rose, tuberose or carnation in floral compositions.
