Pear

Pear was one of the first fruity ingredients to be used in perfumes. It appeared in the 90s, during the wave of gourmand fragrances! The fruit of the pear tree, native to Asia Minor, is well known for its sweet taste and tender, juicy flesh. Despite its undeniable assets, the pear is not so easy to use in perfumery. Like most of its fruity cousins, it is not possible to extract an essence naturally. The pear note is therefore reproduced in a laboratory. To do this, noses and chemists use groups of molecules that go by the sweet names of esters or acetates. These are also used to recreate the scent of the apple. Its smell can thus reveal more gourmand and sweet accents, or more vegetable and acidulous notes.
