Sytrax

Sytrax is a tree of the Styracaceae family which grows mainly in the warm regions of the world, especially in South America. Little known in Europe, there are various species of sytrax, which are used in pharmacy and perfumery. It has green foliage that turns yellow and orange in the autumn. In perfumery, it is the resin that interests us. Once obtained, it is extracted with volatile solvents or distilled. This resin is often used for its fixing properties. It was widely used from the 1920s onwards in oriental fragrances. Its smell is leathery, animal with warm and spicy facets.
