Tonka bean

tonka bean brings a greedy side to a fragrance but also an animal nuance

The tonka bean is a small black seed from Brazilian teak. It is a tree that grows to about thirty meters in height. In its raw state, the bean has a grilled, almond-like flavor reminiscent of caramel or dried hay. For the perfumery, we use the tonka bean absolute which is obtained by extraction and whose smell has different facets: animal, tobacco, vanilla pod. The tonka bean is made of a very large quantity of coumarin. It is used in our floral and solar fragrance ippi patchouli clair.
