Vanilla planifolia

Vanilla planifolia is an Amazonian orchid whose fruit is the vanilla pod that delivers the sweet and gourmand scent that we know

Vanilla planifolia is the only orchid to deliver a fruit: the vanilla pod. Originally from Amazonia, it is now grown in Indonesia, Madagascar, China and Reunion Island (bourbon vanilla). The vanilla pods are picked in the early morning when the vanilla flower blooms. Still green, they are left to dry for several months. The brown pod is then grinded for extraction with volatile solvents, a process that delivers vanilla absolute with a warm and sweet scent. Perfumers can also use synthesis to replicate the vanilla planifolia aroma, with vanilin, which is one of the main components of the pod, or ethylvaniline, a fully artificial odororiferous molecule. This regressive raw material inspired Carrément Belle a fragrance called vanille. This eau de parfum is both gourmand and caramelized with almond notes. An ode to childhood and the appetizing memories of a festive kitchen…
