Verbena

Verbena is an aromatic plant of the verbenaceae family which comes in various species. The variety that interests perfumers the most is the odorous verbena. Very different from the officinal one, this species is, as its name indicates, much more fragrant. It is very aromatic and exhales a lemony scent, which made it an ingredient of choice for the making of Eau de Cologne since the 18th century. Also called lemon verbena, its essential oil is integrated into compositions, most often at the top of the olfactory pyramid. It reveals a tonic and refreshing scent. A mixed ingredient par excellence, it brings delicately acidulous notes that smell like summer!
