The wallflower is a perennial plant quite common in European gardens. Tt blooms a lot in spring, making it very aesthetic. If it is appreciated by gardeners for its beauty, it is also appreciated by perfumers for its sweet smell. This plant with small yellow, mauve or pink flowers, gives off a smell very close to that of the clove. Its perfume is also very spicy, with musky and vanilla notes. In perfumery, its smell is reproduced thanks to synthetic chemistry, notably by the use of eugenol, the main odorant component of cloves. It thus reveals a spicy floral note.
