I've been wearing only ïodé for about 21. It was 1999 and I'd travelled from Florida to Nice for a holiday. There was a small eclectic shop just opposite the Galeries Lafayette and this is where I fell in love with ïodé. I used to base my holidays on the location of its retailers. Thank goodness for online shopping now. But, if this weren't possible, I'd still travel to the ends of the earth for my fragrance. Thank you to everyone at Carrément Belle for making this magical scent!

The higher concentration in the extrait compared to the EDP intensifies the marine accord and wraps it in a more tactile warmth. The salty, aquatic facets retain their freshness at first, before quickly giving way to a more textured heart of jasmine and chypre nuances. Virginia cedar and vetiver anchor the composition on the skin, adding depth, roundness, and longevity, while preserving the invigorating momentum that forms the essence of this marine chypre fragrance.

A perfume extract prefers restraint. Two to three sprays from about 15cm away on pulse points—nape, neck, behind the ears—are enough. Don’t rub: let the fragrance breathe. To extend the marine impression, you can mist your hair and clothes. Well-hydrated skin ensures an even diffusion and highlights the woody-amber trail at the finish.

For a “clean skin” elegance, pair ïōdé with a hint of musc: the sea meets fresh cotton. Seeking evening depth? A veil of also warms the extrait with amber light without dulling the freshness. Love contrasts? A base of ippi patchouli adds an earthy anchor that highlights the mineral side of the wave. Tip: start with the more concentrated fragrance (also or ippi patchouli), then layer ïōdé from a distance to preserve the marine brightness.

The accord has been crafted to evoke sea spray rather than raw seaweed: a light, slightly salty opening that suggests sun-warmed skin after a swim. The chypre-floral heart (jasmine, mosses) adds depth, while the woody-amber base (cedar, sandalwood, vetiver) prevents any sense of coldness. The result is a sophisticated interpretation of a marine fragrance: fresh yet sensual, with the sea subtly present from start to finish.
